Abstract

In a context permeated by environmental challenges, Environmental Education is a crucial tool for preserving biodiversity. Citizen Science and the use of information and communication technologies stand out as collaborative approaches in this process. Seeking new pedagogical possibilities to face these challenges, this study explores the iNaturalist platform in Biology teaching, from the perspective of Citizen Science, with a focus on biodiversity. The article presents a case study as an example of using data already recorded on the platform to develop educational activities and presents the possibility of creating projects, encouraging students' active participation in recording biodiversity on the platform, allowing students to feel protagonists and play an active role in environmental preservation.
